A Virtual Private Network is an extremely cost-effective method to get your offices exchanging data.
|
In simple terms a VPN is a WAN (Wide Area Network) implemented without expense of dedicated communication
lines between offices or cities. The VPN's implemented by Web-Sters provide a point to point link
between two servers on the Internet with encryption to keep the data secure. Each end of the link is
logically on the same network. If an employee in Calgary wants to share a file with someone in
Ft. McMurray they can simply transfer the file to a shared drive or another network resource without
having to encrypt the data, mail or ftp the data and notify the recipient the data is there. In fact
a person in the field office in Ft. McMurray could print from their word processing package to a
printer in the Edmonton office...secure and flexible and all using a low cost Internet connection!
We have included a sample network diagram (new window) to illustrate.
